Yosemite Valley - Leidig Meadow Hike and Lower Yosemite Falls

test

After some obligatory photos at Tunnel View, I started driving slowly on the loop thru the valley. After about 5 minutes I decided to stop the Van and take in some of the valley on foot. So I took a pleasant (approx 3 mi) walk across the meadow from Leidig Meadow over to Lower Yosemite Falls and back.

All along the way on my little walk I was "oohing and ahhing" at the sights. There were fresh wildflowers everywhere ... the meadow itself was rolling golden flowers. And you were never out of site of the Falls and the whole Valley around you. The Merced River runs thru the Valley and is often populated with Rafters making their way down river. I crossed over it and made my way around the crowded parking area under construction and proceeded the additional 1/4 mi or so to the Falls themselves. It was a warm (75-80) day, not too hot, but not cool either.

Once at the Falls, the braver folks (i.e. Me) make their way up the rocks to get closer to the falls. Doesn't look that bad, but you are reminded that one slip could end up in trouble. The water was very powerful and loud, and the spray from the Falls was refreshing. After I got back to the Van from the hike I made a sandwiche and had a quick bite to eat before driving around the Valley some more.
