Alaska Part 1 - Getting There

I spent the first 12 days of the trip getting to Alaska and finding the place my parents used to own. From San Diego, I drove to Redding, where I boondocked (camped outside of an established campground) next to the Trinity River and spent a day looking at 3 pieces of real estate, having a nice dinner, and jamming with some new friends.

Then I made my way thru Oregon and Washington spending a night at rest areas in each state before crossing into Canada to camp at 10 Mile Lake, near Quesnel, BC. From there, I took the Yellowhead and Cassiar Highways, camping at Meziadin and Boya Lakes, before reconnecting with the Alcan highway to visit Liard Hot Springs and other neat places in the vast Yukon Territory.

When I finally arrived in Alaska, after 10 days, I camped and explored the Matanuska Glacier before driving to Palmer, Alaska, where I found the Butte, the roadhouse my parents had owned back in 1951, before Alaska became a state.
