Southern Sequoia Camp2 Horse Meadow CG

Tho I would have liked to have worked my way west from Troy Meadow, the only way across the mountains, Sherman Pass, was still closed due to snow, so after driving nearly 120 miles (back out to highway 395 south to 178, West to Lake Isabella, north back up into the mountains, and then 8 miles on a dirt road, I found myself not 20 miles from where I had camped the previous night!

When I arrived at Horse Meadow, I pretty much had the whole campground in private. It had only opened the day before, and nobody seemed to be aware of it, even with the Memorial Day weekend. I went for several rides from the second camp spot in the Horse Meadow campground.

Inasmuch as the rides consisted of trying every open forest service road in the surround area, it didn't take too long to find a really nice boondocking spot (free) right next to Salmon Creek. I went for a nice long ride around Big Meadow and then came back and moved from the Campground to the boondocking spot.
