Maple construction with Purpleheart panels

This was the very first box I constructed.

I drew from my experience with the Lillies Panel to create cut-thru panels from 1/8" Purpleheart. I then constructed a simple Maple Box with some little brass hinges with the Panels glued to the outside.

Most of the carving was done with a scroll saw and dremel. Some of the more detailed portions had to be done by hand, however! The pattern was morphed from several images I downloaded from various sites on the net.

This box took me quite a long time to finish, but was worth every second.
